Get the Exact Time!
The next time you need to set your watch or clock at home or the workplace, try using the precision clocks on the entry page. If you click on the city that is in your time zone, you will get a large rolling time display. All the time clocks on this site display the exact time and are synchronized to the NIST-F1 Cesium Fountain Atomic Clock in Boulder Colorado. After you set your watch or clock, you can be assured to win the bet at the water cooler who has the correct time!
It’s also a great way to see how accurate your watch is! . . . Set your watch and come back the same day one month latter to see how many seconds per month your watch has gained or lost.
About Me
My name is Steve Kamerad. I live in America, and am semi-retired. My hobby of restoring my own watches has evolved into using this knowledge to provide quality LED watches for the pre-owned market. I bought my first LED watch in 1974 and wore it for 15 years. When it stopped running, I was told by my local jeweler that there were no parts available to repair it. I thought LED watches were out of my life forever. Leap ahead to the internet era, and I rediscovered vintage LED watches.
As is the case with many collectors, you first buy what you want the most. Next, you buy what has always interested you. Finally, you buy the next interesting watch that comes along. I now have more LED watches than I can wear. A few of my watches have never been worn, so it's time that I part with some of them.
Planet-LED Policy
It is my intent to describe the condition of each watch as accurately as possible. While there are currently many terms used to describe vintage LED watches, most have been so misused that they are no longer of much value. You also won't see watch descriptions like "Worked the last time I wore it" or "All it needs is batteries" on this website. After I rediscovered LED watches on the internet, the first Pulsar I bought was from a seller who described the watch as "in working condition". When it arrived, the time button worked, but when I pressed the date button, nothing happened. To make matters worse, the band was so small that I couldn't begin to get it over my hand. When I confronted the seller, he told me that I never specifically asked him about the length of the band or if all of the functions worked. I later learned that this selling philosophy is referred to as "don't ask, don't tell. You won't see any of that here. I know what I am selling, and I know what you as a buyer want . . . a working watch that looks great on your wrist!
Most of the watches sold on this website will fall into the category of good to excellent condition. Rather than try to assign each watch into a set category, I will provide a detailed description, next to detailed photos, of each watch. If you are interested in a watch, please study the photos and text carefully. It is only when the buyer and seller are "on the same page," with regard to the condition of a watch, that a positive transaction can occur. I take pride in my work and want you to be 100% satisfied. I want you to be proud to show off the watch you purchased from Planet-LED.
All of the watches that have an adjustable quartz oscillator will be calibrated as accurately as possible using a Greiner Quartz Analyzer. All watches will come with a 30-day limited warranty.
Pulsar Watches
Original – Watches in this category will contain components that are all original. These watches are collector quality. You will find attention to detail in the restoration of each and every aspect of the watch. The bracelet will come with the same number of links that it left the factory with, and I would be happy to custom size the bracelet on request. Unless otherwise stated, you will get a Pulsar that looks and works just about like it did the day it left the factory.
Hybrid - If you have always wanted to own a Pulsar, but don’t have $500-$600 to spend, a hybrid might be the answer. In some cases, an original module is beyond repair. With so many Pulsar watchcases out there, and no source for new modules, a hybrid may be the solution. I have developed methods to build working modules using components taken from non-Pulsar sources. Some of the Pulsar Hybrid modules will have only one hybrid component, while others will have several. The early (P2 and P3) Pulsars used a display in which each digit was made up of a series of dots (dot segments). When hybrid components are used in these models, the module will have a display with a font size and shape almost identical to the original, except that the digits will be made up of bars rather than dot segments. In the later (P4) Pulsars, bar segments were used in all models. These hybrid Pulsars make a great watch for every day use.
Other LED Watches
All of the non-Pulsar watches will have the original module and band unless otherwise stated. I will describe, and photograph, each watch as accurately as I can.
